Episode 11
“Rejoice in the Resurrection”
Pr. Josiah Trenham
- The act of rejoicing in the Resurrection is a matter of will
- If we choose in Lent to set aside distractions, fast and strive towards repentance and prayer, in the same way we can choose to rejoice in the Resurrection
- We now have access to the joy of the Resurrection and the remembrance of what happened
- The essence of being a Christian is JOY because of the Resurrection
- We say “Christ is Risen” to establish the truth by speaking it
- Practice meditating on the Resurrection, kissing the icon of the Resurrection, greeting others with “Christ is Risen”
- We can choose not to think about the sad things, but ponder on beautiful things
- Think on these things and the God of Peace will be with you.
- Try to develop your joy, and when your mental presence is threatened, push them aside
- “Christ is Risen and we will not share in sorrows”
- We cannot be defeated by the falling of the world because we are not bound to the world
- As long as there are believers, there will be repentance, joy, marriage, monasticism, Christian service, and ministry
- Do not expect tomorrow; do everything today and for the sake of Christ
